HEBA Boerewors and Chakalaka

Serves: 3
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 35 minutes

Wors, pap and chakalaka is a classic South African dish! We've taken this old favourite and created a Banting version that can be enjoyed at braais, for dinner or use the chakalaka as a spicy addition to any dish. HEBA has been used instead of maize meal for a low-carb, nutrient rich pap. Traditional Boerewors is great for low carb eating. And chakalaka, a spicy vegetable relish, can also be served with curries and stews. If you enjoy our version, let us know!

Ingredients

For the Boerewors:

500g thick boerewors
5 tbsp coconut oil

For the Chakalaka:

1 red pepper, julienned
1 green pepper, julienned

1 onion, chopped
2 hot chillies, chopped
1 garlic clove. Finely chopped
2 tbsp curry powder
3 tomatoes, grated
Himalayan salt, to taste
Pepper, to taste
Xylitol, to taste

  3. Pan fry the boerewors in 2 tbsp coconut oil until cooked.
  4. Serve the boerewors with creamy pap and hot chakalaka.
